Ilife 09 Mac

I have been catching up the goings on around the tech world at the moment including MacWorld and CES (Consumer Entertainment Show). The one thing that has caught my attention though was the announcement of iLife 09 at MacWorld. In particular what got me attention was the new features in iPhoto 09, “Faces” and “Places”. I currently have a new Aluminium 13″ MacBook with iLife 08 and the 2 things missing that would help me organise my photos are these two new features.

Faces is a facial recognition feature for iPhoto where once you identify and tag a face in one or a couple of your photos then that person will be searched for and automatically identified and tagged in any other photos in your library. This is a brilliant feature for iPhoto and is a mundane task I try to do for a couple of key people in my iPhoto library.

Places is a GPS ,Google Maps feature that for any photos that have GPS data can be displayed on a map, which indicates where the photos were taken. Again in the past I have looked for ways to do this manually without any success. This feature will work great with any photos taken by my iPhone as it tags any photos taken with GPS data with the inbuilt GPS chip.

I am very excited about these two features and can’t wait till this software goes on sale later in January 09. My only regret is that I have to pay for it even though it will come with any new Apple Computers and I only bought my MacBook a couple of months ago. Any How!
